This over-sized cowl could also fit into the shrug or poncho category of projects. It has been one of my most popular designs with one customer knitting 14 different versions – including a handspun angora version for a Winter bride.
The simple design – a rectangle knitted in a flattering oblique ribbed pattern – makes it easy to adjust for any tension and yarn. I would, however, recommend you make a swatch first to make sure it is long enough – then you can simply knit until it fits snuggly around your body.
This design is not new but I have rewritten the pattern to make it easier for beginner knitters, provided resizing instructions and also new video links to the basic stitches. There is also a more detailed explanation – with illustrations – for how to get the button placement right.
